Description
This walnut and cane Acrosonic spinet Baldwin piano has tapered & splayed front legs with polished brass ferrules. Originally branded as the "Acrosonic Scandinavian," it has removable cane panels on both the front and back. This is one of the few spinet pianos finished on both the back and front, so it can truly be a centerpiece and used as a divider or simply floating in a room.Purchased from the original owners in south Florida, the piano is in excellent vintage condition with minimal signs of thoughtful use and tasteful patina. Surprisingly, the piano is in tune despite not knowing if it’s been serviced. However, tuning would be recommended one delivered.
The designer of the cabinetry of this iconic instrument was most likely William Millingham, an English designer who moved to the USA at the age of 30. After working for a number of firms and acting as a representative of the US Chamber of Commerce at the Paris Exposition of 1925 in Paris, Millington joined Baker Furniture the following year. He would stay there until his death in 1963.
