Description
This piano was made during what is considered the golden period of Steinway pianos from the late 19th century until 1944.Steinway produced the world’s greatest pianos over the years.
In 1876, Steinway exhibited in the Philadelphia Centennial Exhibition and during the period of 1855-1862, it won 35 gold medals.
This beautiful small upright Steinway piano is particularly advantageous for those who have a reasonably limited space.
A piano of this size fits very nicely into most apartments and small living surroundings.
A fine example with incredible full, burled walnut case and the figuring is beautiful.
The serial number is impressed on the sound board and case. It has scrolled front legs are joined to the case front; the interior of the cover is marked “Steinway & Sons / Patent / New York”.
The soundboard is marked in relief “Steinway & Sons, New York June 5th, 1866, April 6th, 1869, August 1st, 1876.
Two patents May 28th, 1877”.
Also, the sounding board has relief numbers “5/5.77” and also in raised letters “Steinway Foundry Composite Metal Castings”.
The piano has 50 white keys and 35 black keys.
It is accompanied by an adjustable upright birch piano stool with mahoganized finish and iron talon and glass ball feet. SIZE: Approximately 47-1/2” h x 59” w x 27” d. Stool is 14” dia.
This fabulous piano was used by our granddaughter, who is now in college and no longer uses it.
