    Don't Miss This One....!!!
Nice memorabilia from this USAAF/USAF B-17 pilot and former POW (WWII - ETO) of his tour , 1949 -1951 with the 63rd Troop Carrier Squadron during the Korean War . Please see all photographs before bidding! With original marked American Airlines leather pigskin case.
The former owner, who was wounded in combat when the B-17 he piloted was shot down and crashed near Switzerland, was awarded the Purple Heart, and subsequently was made a POW of the Germans. He also survived the "Frozen Death March" of Allied POWs in January 1945 from Sagen to Nuremburg. That is about all I know, other than his name and WWII final rank of Captain. He later made it to Lt. Colonel in the Air Force before he retired in 1967 (from his obituary). The details of his career are sketchy. He must have been recalled for the Korean War as in between he flew DC-3s for American Airlines in the mid to late 1940s after he was mustered out at the end of WWII. I have the pig skin case for his American Airlines issued DRFC, it has the manual in beautiful condition dated 1945, but sadly no flight computer was there.... Confusingly it is also marked 63D TC Squadron.... which translates to 63rd Troop Carrier Squadron. He could not have been in that unit in WWII because he went into the USAAF in 1942 and flew B-17s until he was shot down and captured. So he must have been in the 63rd TCS when it was reactivated from 1949-1951. Unfortunately, t
he WWII 4-1/2" DFRC was not to be found
    amongst his estate things....
From official US Air Force sources I have found out that he was squadron commander of the 63rd between 1949 and 1951, although most likely in 1951 when the unit was moved to Japan from NY through Portland, OR(?) during the Korean War. He was a major then. He may have flown with the NMANG after 1967 when they still had F-100s, hence the "supersonic" DRFC in my other listing from this estate.

    -
Thank You to my, good, former customers in Mexico
    - Sorry for any inconvenience..!!
eBay's fees are very expensive and you can help me keep costs down  by giving top numbers in detailed seller ratings (DSRs). If you feel there is a problem just let me know before you leave feedback so I have a chance to resolve any issue. NM sales tax will be charged to New Mexico residents only.
I will gladly combine on the shipping but please WAIT to pay so I can easily combine your shipping total. I will happily sell overseas, but I insist (as does eBay) on shipping with a tracking number of some sort via priority or express.
I will not declare a lower amount on the customs form! Please do not ask me to do so.
    I
    will
    not
be responsible for thefts on overseas purchases, especially if the item's tracking shows it entered the customs process in the destination country!
I welcome buyers from all over the world. Thank you for looking!
